Oil Pulling

Oil pulling has been around for over three thousand years, it originates from India and comes from the teaching of Ayurvadic medicine (Ayruveda is something I will be discussing in more depth as time goes on). It didn’t just arrive when the latest internet sensation hit in the form of COCO WHITE.

Oil pulling is so easy, cheap and hassle free. My Mom has been doing this for years and I decided to give it a go to see what all the fuss was about! All you have to do is purchase some coconut oil (sesame will work also) which is available in any health shop. I keep it beside my bed so it is the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning. Put a tablespoon full into your mouth and swish it around for 15-20 minutes while you’re getting ready, or even having a shower. Spit it out and give your mouth a rinse. DO NOT SWALLOW!!!

I could write a long list of the health benefits but just going to briefly tell you why I do it.

1. Detoxifying

Your mouth holds toxins that build up on your tongue over night. Oil pulling helps release these toxins from your mouth so they don’t spread throughout your body.

2. Teeth Whitening

I have been consistently oil pulling for months now and find it has definitely made my teeth whiter, which definitely beats paying out ridiculous money on whiteners, which almost always have chemicals in them that are NOT good for you.

3.Clear Skin

The less toxins in your body the healthier your skin will become.

Apparently oil pulling works wonders for preventing tooth decay, I have had terrible trouble with my teeth as a teenager and I genuinely feel that it has strengthened my gums and teeth over the last few months. If this small undertaking saves me big dental bills then happy days! It also prevents bad breath, which is definitely something you do not want to be known for!

Please give it a go, you won’t be disappointed. Questions and feedback always, always welcome by emailing themindguide1@gmail.com.

Get swirling 🙂
